Error when booting up 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi all,

I just install Ubuntu 7.10 on my IBM T41 and every time a restart it a get the same msg.

kinit no resume image doing normal boot

This did not used to happen with version 7.04. Now, I don't even get the normal splash screen. If you know how to fix it, please advice.

Thanks

This message is in regards to software hibernate. Upon software hibernate the contents of RAM are stored in an image file. When your computer powers on again init checks for the existence of this file, if it exists it is loaded back into RAM and your computer will return to its previous state. Once the image is successfully loaded into RAM and the hibernate restore is successful the image file is deleted.

If the file does not exist, the image file is not loaded and your computer will perform a "normal boot". Hence the message you are receiving. This message is for informational purposes only and can be ignored. I think there is a way to manage the logging level and suppress informational messages, although, I can't remember how to do this...
